Maximizing Collegiate Sport
The Complexity of working with Student-Athletes
There is a large complexity for Head Coaches in finding the balance between the non-negotiable win required in the Big Ten, with the learning, development and shaping the lives of young people through coaching this age range and in this environment.
How these young people perform outside of sport - in the classroom, and in life has to be factored into the sporting culture and approach.
When Head Coaches are juggling the multi-layers of recruitment, staff and coach hire, fire and management, being the brand, maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, ensuring student grades and progress, all alongside the technical, tactical & analytical side of sport, there is no surprise that this constant, high allostatic load can cause burnout, fluctuations in performance & poor well-being.
This coaching enables Head Coaches to more effectively and sustainably manage the psychological and emotional load, ensuring their own personal consistent and long-term performance, as well as strategically understand and build a holistic, whole-person culture from which young people can perform.
